The GM Diet: Day 1



Day 1
Participants-Stephanie, Josh, Renee, Andrea

Today we embarked on an interesting experiment called the General Motors diet. It is only one week long, so we decided to test our willpower on something crazy. The full explanation is here, at this very official looking website: http://www.iimahd.ernet.in/~jajoo/gmdiet.html
 
It promises more energy and a better mood, in addition to a cleanse of your system and of course, significant weight loss. 

To summarize, each day we can only eat certain things. Day 1 is only fruit, as much as you want, but no bananas. And 10 glasses of water. 

We are also supposed to supplement this “diet” with regular exercise, so some of us walked to the store for more fruit at lunch.  

Here is how our Day 1 went. We started out strong, with a nice variety of fruits that we got together and compared. In the end, Stephanie ended up rejecting her albino cantaloupe. 



Josh: I can’t wait to eat my orange later.

Mid morning, it started to get tough. Temptations were all around us.


Hi my name is Stephanie and I’m addicted to food. I have been 4 hours sober, and I don’t know how much longer I can take this with those honey wheat pretzels sitting on the cabinet.

Mid day, somebody was starting to get a little punchy.

Stephanie: I think it said on the diet outline that for day four if you would like to have ice cream instead of milk that is acceptable

At the close of business, we were daydreaming about pizza and peanut butter, but no cheating had been done, except for the coffee that Renee and I both indulged in that included cream and sweetener. A couple headaches have been reported, but they seem to be powering through. I think I speak for us all when I say I am very excited to not eat fruit tomorrow.
