Shakin' It Up

Days 1-2
Andrea (& Stephanie)

For our next adventure, we decided we wanted to try something with shakes. There are a lot out there. Since Herbalife seems to be readily available and everywhere you look these days, we got our hands on a canister of the Cookies and Cream flavor.

Stephanie is on vacation this week, so I started without her. Although she sent me this photo of her breakfast, so I know she is participating in spirit:

I make mine out of 8oz of skim milk and 2 scoops of the mix. I stir it in my coffee cup with a fork. Not fancy, and pretty clumpy. I’m told that a small, portable blender can be purchased rather cheaply and works wonders, especially if you include ice. I will decide later on if I want to make that investment, pending purchase of a second canister of shake mix. For the time being, I’ll continue with my cream flavored milk. Besides, this way all the cookie pieces settle to the bottom, so when I finish my drink I practically have a cookie waiting for me to scoop up with my fork.

Since we paid a pretty penny for this stuff, I’m doing my best to loosely follow the “program” as I found it online. Shake for breakfast, shake for lunch. Protein and fruit for snacks. Not eating my weight in tater tots for dinner. That kind of stuff. Oh, but as with any diet I partake in, it always includes unlimited coffee.

And at close of business, I’m ready to go home and eat a meal.

The GM Diet: Day 2

Day2

Stephanie, Josh, Renee, Andrea

As a group, we lost 3lbs yesterday, despite the fact that there are cheaters among us.

A few participants seem to have indulged in things like rolls, chicken, chocolate, pizza, and asparagus (veggie on fruit day, tsk tsk) on Day 1.

I heard such excuses as “My hand was shaky when I was carrying a tray at my second job,” and “I didn’t want someone else’s delicious smelling leftovers to go to waste.” I myself was concerned that I shouldn’t be driving, as black dots danced in front of my eyes, but did I give in? No.

I remained fruit-pure over night. I woke up excited to eat my potato for breakfast. I have never been so happy to see a potato in my life. I savored every bite. It was all I could think about as I lay in bed the night before, while my stomach attempted to consume itself.

Day 2 is veggie day. Unlimited veggies (except potatoes, just the one for breakfast). This day had so much promise, since vegetables are more delicious than fruit.

Josh and Stephanie forgot their potatoes this morning, so they started out at a disadvantage (although I think their cheat foods from the night before should have canceled out that treat anyway!).

Then I ran out of food. And I knew my dinner at home was going to be a huge bowl of broccoli. And tomorrow I’d have to eat fruit again. I started to give up on life. I had nothing to look forward to. I lost my will to live.

So at approximately 3pm I broke into this:

And at approximately 3:05pm Steph and Josh joined me.

At the close of business, we feel much better and tomorrow is a day of rest, while we search for a new crazy diet to try.
